Coaching, Counselling, Mentoring and Psychotherapy: What is the difference?

My approach to coaching is focused on the present and future, helping you navigate current challenges and work toward a flourishing life.

Coaching is about growth, connection, and clarity. It’s about uncovering what’s important to you and discovering the path that feels right for your unique life.
While I am not a therapist and do not treat past trauma or severe mental health challenges, I understand how our past experiences can shape our present. Together, we’ll create a space for you to reflect and unpack your thoughts, exploring ways to embrace any challenges with compassion and uncover the clarity you need to move forward.

If you are experiencing mental health challenges that significantly impact your day-to-day living, coaching might not be the right space for you. I am not qualified to work with clients who have clinical diagnoses of mental health disorders or are in need of therapeutic support, but I am happy to refer you to a therapist who can offer that specialised care.

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients start with 6 sessions, and for some, this can be enough to experience truly transformational change. However, others may choose to book one session at a time and see how they go. The key is consistency—coaching works best when it continues to remain beneficial for you.

Some areas may take longer to see change, while other shifts can feel almost miraculous. What’s most important is that you approach coaching with an open mind and a commitment to make the most of the time we spend together. This is the biggest predictor of success.

We’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, regularly checking in to ensure you’re feeling supported and that our work together is having the impact you desire.

What guarantee will I have that coaching will work?

The success of coaching is very much a two-way street. It depends on your commitment and willingness to explore new ideas and perspectives. Coaching works best when there’s a shared dedication to the process, so while I can’t guarantee specific outcomes, I will always meet you where you’re at with compassion and respect.

If you’re unsure, I offer a free 30-minute connection call where we can chat about what you’re looking for and whether we’re a good fit to work together. If you decide to book multiple sessions but find you’re unable to complete them, I reserve the right not to issue refunds for unused sessions.

How long is a typical session?

essions are 60 minutes long. If you feel you would benefit from shorter or longer sessions this can be discussed in the connection call and adjusted accordingly. We can always re-contract during our coaching relationship should this be necessary.

Will there be "homework"?

Coaching with me is meant to be engaging, thoughtful, and enjoyable, so you won’t be given “homework” unless it feels truly helpful for your journey. Some clients like to reflect between sessions or work on particular tasks, while others prefer to stay focused on our conversations. We’ll decide together what works best for you—no pressure, just what feels right.

What if I’m Not in Devon?

No worries at all! I offer online coaching that is just as effective as face-to-face sessions. This gives you the flexibility to connect from anywhere, and we can find times that work well for your schedule—even evenings and weekends. I’ve worked with clients all over the world, and the magic of this space can be felt no matter where you are.

Fees and Accessibility

I believe that coaching should be accessible to everyone, which is why I’ve designed my fee structure with transparency and fairness in mind. I’ve chosen to base my fees on a percentage of your annual salary, which ensures that the investment is in line with your income. It’s my way of making sure that coaching remains available to people with different financial means, without compromising on the quality of the service you’ll receive.

Here’s how it works:
6-session block booking: I charge 1.5% of your annual salary for 6 sessions. For example, if your income is £36,000, the total cost for 6 sessions will be £540 (or £90 per session).

One-at-a-time sessions: If you’d prefer to book sessions individually, I charge 0.27% of your annual salary per session. So, if your income is £36,000, a single session would cost £97.20.

This pricing structure is designed to be transparent and fair, meaning that everyone essentially chooses to invest the same amount in their coaching. The idea is that higher-earning clients help support those with lower incomes, making coaching more accessible to everyone.
The most important thing to me is that we’re a good fit and that coaching supports you in the way you need it. So, I encourage you to not get too caught up in the numbers—let’s chat in the free connection call, and we can work out the best option for you. From time to time I have availability for pro-bono coaching sessions. This is part of my commitment to social impact and the belief that everyone deserves access to coaching. Feel free to enquire and we can explore this further to see if you qualify.
