Coaching, Counselling, Mentoring and Psychotherapy: What is the difference?

My approach to coaching focuses on the present and the future, helping you navigate current challenges and work towards a flourishing life. While I’m not a therapist and don’t treat past trauma, I recognise how it may shape your present difficulties. Together, we’ll explore ways to embrace these challenges with compassion, shedding light on areas of your life that may feel stuck or unclear. I provide a non-judgemental space where you can examine your worldview, asking thoughtful questions to help you gain clarity and insight.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions is entirely up to you. Many clients start with 4–6 sessions to work on specific areas, and we’ll review your progress together after that. Some prefer more frequent sessions for intensive work, while others spread them out over a longer period for ongoing support. We’ll work together to find a schedule that suits your needs.
Bear in mind that the more complex your goals, the more time and practice it may take to see meaningful change. Coaching is about building new skills and resources, and like any skill, practising outside our sessions will help you progress more quickly.

What guarantee will I have that coaching will work?

The success of coaching depends on your dedication, openness, and commitment to change. While coaching isn’t for everyone, I offer a free 30-minute consultation to ensure we’re a good fit. If you book multiple sessions and find you can’t complete them, I reserve the right not to issue refunds for unused sessions. This is because coaching thrives on consistency and a shared commitment to the process.

How long is a typical session?

Most sessions last 60 minutes, but we can adjust this depending on your needs and the topics we’re covering. Some sessions may naturally require more or less time, and we’ll review this regularly to ensure it’s working for you.

Will there be "homework"?

Coaching with me is designed to be engaging and enjoyable, so you won’t get “homework” unless it feels helpful. Some clients enjoy having tasks between sessions, while others prefer to focus solely on the conversations. We’ll decide together what works best for you.

What if I’m Not in Devon?

I offer online coaching, which can be just as effective as face-to-face sessions, and it offers greater flexibility. Wherever you are, we can find a time that fits your schedule, including evenings, weekends, and across different time zones.
